is steve. >>> thank you very much. our system is moving on shore as advertised. the rain is picking up especially towards the north bay and we have wind and rain picking up and most of the heavy rain is still on and off shore right now. things are picking up in the north bay and it looks like it is about over for them and it is beginning to really start to intensify and our front still has a ways to go but it is a fast moving system which is not going to stall out. up towards clover dale and lake county, things are beginning to light up and rushing river, not too bad. nothing too heavy, and in marin county, it is starting to move on shore so there is a little bit of an enhancement so out to the east bay this has been light. reports of rain are starting in capitoa but it is later than sooner when they will get the bulk of this but everybody is in on this. rain is picking up at half-moon bay airport and by 11:00 and noon this system is gone blasting through. by 8:00, and 9:00 it is moving out by noon. that is the good news and it will not be late until thursday and friday and that's th

again, make sure you give yourself some extra time, here is steve. >>> cloudy skies, some fog, not as bad as yesterday, but there are still pockets in advance of that system which will be here tomorrow. it doesn't start until 4:00 a.m. tomorrow but that doesn't start until thursday so they are coming upstream but it looks very sunny, very wet and monday looks dry and until then, it is our transition day. the rain looks to be in the north bay and i have seen protection -- projections from 4 to 10 near fort brag, shelter could he have, so be advised, north bay will take it first. it will start to move south and along the coast, favorites areas for the wind, they can transport some of that wind. today is cloudy and some of that fog may move as well as back here. the top shows it is a sign thats developing and it will a sign that it has been picked upment they are looking at a lot of rain and he will take us friday it looks like with your weekend always in view. >>> new concerns about breast cancer and it is not just limited to marin county and we will tell you why other parts of

. the storm has come through. we have live team coverage on the storm watch. steve paulson is in the weather center to tell you how much rain has fallen. war live in marin county and in san francisco. we begin with at sfo. any flight delays? >> reporter: yeah. there are a quite a few. the airport is reporting more than 70 flight cancellations. there are a handful of flights that are on time. there are many delays. some last had more than an hour. there is a little break right now. the airport says expect delays throughout the day. rain and wind outside, passengers waiting and looking to see if their next flight is on time inside. >> i should have been on the 7:00 flight this morning. due to the weather, i'll be catching the 11:45 to dallas. >> former track legend jim heinz was supposed to be an earlier flight to texas. because of our weather in the bay, some scheduled events will have to wait. >> i had had some press conferences scheduled for this afternoon that would have to be put off until tomorrow. >> the rain and wind played a number on flight schedules at sfo. the faa issue add ground

is monitoring the potentially high winds on the richmond san rafael bridge as steve paulson tracks the storm. but claudine wong joins us now from marin county where flooding is expected. claudine? >> reporter: we're in san anselmo. they prepare for any kind of flooding here. let let's -- let's have a look at the conditions. no -- when you talk about preparations for a storm like this, you come here and they got it down. those people you talk to out here will tell you their businesses are flooded, so much in fact, that they have these flood gates in when the -- the potential time for flooding and that protects the store when you go in. they are not worried so much of nothinged drains. i am gonna walk you around. this is probably one of the big reasons why you don't see sandbags out here yet. there's a complex system. take a look right now. you can see it's very low right now. a little over 2 feet is what their gauges are saying right now. you can access that all of the time. residents can keep an eye on this real-time data. 13 feet is the lowest point in the downtown area. they have a lot of

at 280 in san jose, traffic is looking good in both directions, here is steve. >>> well, we have a little bit of a lull before the system comes in and if you leave now you might beat the bulk of it. everything is offshore poised to move in and today it is widespread, it will rain all the way from ukiah and santa cruz and it looks like a fast mover. we will focus our attention on the north bay and again the santa cruz mountains, saturday it takes more aim at that. it is possible we could see 10 to 8 more inches. cape mendocino north, there will still be a lot of systems and now it is becoming one and it will move on shore and as long as it keeps marching, it will take aim at the marin coast. also the rushing river area, things are beginning to start nothing too heavy but it will pick up around 7:00, 8:00 or 9:00. also in mendocino, and lake county and down to santa cruz and monterey it will be a rainy morning. it is not too heavy yet but it is on its way. when you see darker green rain begins to pick up and that will not come in for another couple of hours but it is a sign of things to c

that is a positive thing. and 280 in san jose t- traffic is looking great in both directions >> thank you, steve. we have a different pattern and it is not as thick as it was. a lot of higher clouds in advance so areas of fog not as wide spread and the winds will begin to be a wet pattern especially for the curse pattern and i think it will be a pretty fast move and it looks like the next time get ready for some rain, it is on its way and the winds will turn southerly fitting rid of that fog and we have a lot of cloud cover. it will be cloudy and chilly and here comes that rain. it boots scoots out of here fast and on wednesday me might get a little of a brag but we will start to move in towards the north bay thursday night into the weekend. it is a little cooler 50s and 60s and with your weekend always in view, probably the heaviest rain increasing by saturday. >>> and an aggressive form of breast cancer, why it is found right here in the bay area even more than the rest of the state. >>> hundreds of people are worried for their safety. , more and traffic coming up. earlier. here's steve. >>> thank you, tara. cloudy skies or mostly cloudy skies. the clouds have lifted. there could be some pockets -- the -- there could be some pockets of it but nothing like yesterday. but kind of a gray day. tomorrow morning we'll have rain. nothing you haven't seen or handled before. it will be a fast-moving system. it will set the stage for what comes in thursday into sunday. the wind will cavel off. could get some gusts 30, 50 miles an hour. thursday, sunday, that's when things get interesting. i think it will start in the north bay and make it to the santa cruz mountains. it's areas of fog and cloudy skies. did see a few clouds. our system is out here. when you start to see him. that's a good sign. if they topple over. this one is not doing that. our rainy forecast begins wednesday. goes into sunday, monday/tuesday, between that wednesday and sunday time frame, windy -- windy pattern. it's going to be a little tricky on the amounts or the totals. one forecast model is unbelievably bullish for rain. the other one is rainy. but still the north bay, look for heavy

traffic on 880. also slow traffic getting out to 92. >> let's go to steve. >>> well, santa rosa says mostly cloudy. although ukiah says light rain and all the way down to santa rosa -- san jose. so there's still some in there but the main core of the system is pushing east and south. it is weakening. but there's decent totals. oakland hills, 1.5. emeryville, 1.04. the city 1.25. there were heavier amounts towards -- der row. rodeo -- cazadero, rodeo 2.83. sfo and hayward, both about 45/100ths. kind of winding down. but still kind of misty, drizzly, cloudy, fog being reported. santa rosa says fog. light showers up in marin county south over towards the east bay. again, most of the heavier stuff looks like it is out of the peninsula and starting to head down more towards san jose, santa clara and even that looks weaker now. there's been reports of moderate rain towards san jose. you can see down towards morgan hill some rain and scotts valley. we're not down with the cloud cover. it will be a cloudy to mostly cloudy day. but high pressure showing signs of building in later today and to

's check weather and traffic. let's go to steve. we had the rain but you are also talking about fog. >> that will be tonight and tomorrow. that is not coast fog. that will be the inland fog. we do have rain going through right now. it looks like it's ending parts of the peninsula and northbound. really mild system. temperatures are in the 50s but you can see there is a line. it looks like a lot of that will be ending. we'll talk more about this in five minutes. >>> on the sunol grade southbound 680 very slow because of a crash northbound 680 at washington the crash is on the other side of the road. but people are really taking a look at it you can see how slow it is there on 680 southbound. not good driving. usually it's light here at this time. if you drive this right now, you will see a lot of slow traffic. you need to leave the house earlier. also the morning commute on the east shore freeway westbound is getting busier driving toward the mccarthur maze. let's go back to the desk. >>> and we have developing news for you out of san francisco. right now crew roberts scene of a fire

morning they're here at 4:30. steve paulson is here and mark tamayo is going to come in and help steve out because they're going to be tracking this thing in the morning hours. system number two rolls in here as we head into thursday. a second system will focus on the north bay. it'll have some wind but not as windy. system number one, times out like this, wednesday morning. here's the first wave. here's the second wave, back here see those reds. the wind is high at 6:00 a.m. as we get to 8:00 a.m. the wind is all over you. the second wave coming in. that's when you might hear some thunder, see a lightning pop. the commute is a mess, right. no question. and then the back edges here that's 11:00 a.m. lunchtime. then it's up in the mountains. the next system tees up for thursday. forecast highs tomorrow, you know you have clouds and you have rain but you're still doing low 60s. that's a warm storm. i remember the el nino year, this isn't an el nino year but that was a strong one. very warm moist air. the morning commute that's the story as we go into tomorrow. thursday looks like it's going
